Good afternoon. This is my first business blog and I hope everyone will follow along in my journey to grow my business. I've blogged when I was in college for a class, for my running journey and while I was pregnant with both my daughters. But I've never written for my photography.

These last few weeks have been busy between our family being busy in October and preparing for the busiest time of year for photos. This year is different from past years because I have a new studio that has so much room, new props and new inspiration. This year is my 5th year of working with Toys For Tots and so far I am off to a great start with donations. My goal is 20 toys donated by others and I will match that with 20 toys my family donates. I'm offering 5 free edited photos to anyone who donates a toy.

Because of all the extra space in our new house, I've set up 4 different Christmas scenes for sessions. 2 are in my studio, another in my dining room and another in my downstairs living room with our fireplace. I have enough space I could even add another spot in my dining room. I've been testing out new props and backgrounds and am so giddy. I've been burning Christmas candles, listening to Christmas music and drinking hot coffee while trying new scenes. It is actually cold outside in Texas so I feel like I'm back at home in Kansas during the winter.

Besides keeping busy with my photography, I'm also working with other small businesses. This weekend I will have a table at the Village Pillage, a small business event in Providence Village. I've been helping organize it as well as participate. And then on Dec. 1 I will be promoting my business during the Providence Village Christmas parade. I'm part of the parade and celebration committee so I'm in charge of the cookie contest which I'm entering and also in charge of the small businesses set up at the school.

I started a local group at the beginning of this year called The Broad Collective, a group of female small business owners in Providence Village. We put on a spring fling in May that even though we had 7 weeks to put together it went really well. I really hope we can do it again next spring.
